WHO WE ARE

Engineer India's Future Weapon Systems — Through Collaboration, Transparency, and Shared Ownership

Our name is an amalgam of two words – 'Nova' from Latin meaning new, and 'Astra' from Sanskrit meaning weapons. We are a platform for India's most talented minds to collaborate, innovate, and co-own the technologies that strengthen our nation. Novastra advises on defence, aerospace, and space technologies. We operate at the intersection of four strategic pillars: engineering sovereignty, strategic advisory, intellectual property commercialization, and global trade.

Collaboration · Transparency · Shared Ownership
OUR TRADEMARK LOGO

Syenachiti — a symbol of ascent.

Our Logo is the 'Syenachiti' (falcon-shaped fire altar) from the Shulba Sutras. The falcon (Syena) is the only Vedic geometric altar explicitly associated with ascending to the skies — the most perfect ancient metaphor for aerospace and space technology.

WHY WE CHOSE THE DEMOCRATIZATION MODEL

We Do Things Differently — The Democratization Model

India's defence and aerospace sectors face a critical inflection point. The technologies that defined yesterday's weapons systems are becoming obsolete. New capabilities are emerging from unexpected quarters. The military structures of tomorrow will look fundamentally different from today. The question is not whether change is coming — it is whether India will lead that change or be shaped by it.

Novastra exists because India cannot afford either complacency or external dependence. We cannot wait for ten-year development cycles when the threat environment is moving at light speed. We cannot leave India's best talent locked in institutional silos where their contributions go unrecognized and unrewarded. We cannot treat intellectual property as an afterthought when it is the foundation of strategic autonomy.

We built Novastra to solve these problems. Not perfectly. Not alone. But with rigour, transparency, and the conviction that when India's best minds co-own what they're building, and when that work is recognized and rewarded fairly, extraordinary things become possible.

Novastra's defining principle is radical transparency: talent co-owns what it builds, rewards are shared proportionally and documented, and every contributor — from junior engineer to senior strategist — participates in the upside they create.

Core Principle

Radical Transparency

Talent co-owns what it builds, rewards are shared proportionally and documented, and every contributor — from junior engineer to senior strategist — participates in the upside they create.

Core Principle Explanation

The traditional model is inverted.

The traditional defence contracting model concentrates ownership and returns at the top. Engineers and experts are employees or contractors; they contribute their talent but do not participate in the commercial outcomes of their work.

Novastra inverts this. Your contribution is valued, quantified, and rewarded. When a technology you helped develop is commercialized — whether through government procurement, export sales, or licensing — you share in the returns, proportional to your effort.

This is not altruism. It is strategic. When talented people know they co-own what they're building, they work harder, care more deeply, and stay longer. When rewards are transparent, the best minds are attracted. When contributions are attributed, professional reputations build alongside financial returns.

Result: Novastra attracts and retains the best talent in defence and aerospace. Innovation accelerates. Quality improves. Projects complete on time and within budget.

Col Rajiv Ranjan Singh is a distinguished Indian Army officer whose 25-year career seamlessly integrated operational leadership, strategic resilience, governance, and civil-military programme delivery across India's most geopolitically sensitive border regions.

An alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Army War College, Mhow, he served across the Indo-China, Indo-Bhutan, Indo-Myanmar, and Indo-Pakistan borders in various pivotal appointments, including a command tenure, developing rare expertise at the intersection of national security, developmental governance, and frontier administration.
